How to Test Strategies and Content Templates

When testing strategies and content templates, it’s essential to follow best practices to ensure accurate and effective outcomes. This guide outlines the key steps and considerations to keep in mind when testing within our system.

1. Always Test in the Production Environment

It’s crucial to conduct all strategy and content template tests in the Production environment, not in the Demo environment. The Demo environment is designed primarily for testing new functionalities or performing end-to-end technical tests. However, it does not replicate the operational conditions of the Production environment.

Why Production?

  • Data Model Accuracy: Production operates with your actual data model, making it the best environment to test strategies and content templates effectively.
  • Real-world Conditions: Testing in Production ensures that you are working within the same parameters that will apply when strategies and templates go live.

2. Distinguishing Test Claims from Real Claims

To avoid confusion between test claims and actual claims, it is a best practice to use a distinct mechanism for differentiation. The most effective way to do this is by using a separate Portfolio Reference for test claims.

Benefits:

  • Easy Filtering: Portfolio references can be easily filtered in the claims overview, allowing you to isolate and review test claims without interference from real claims.
  • Integration with Reporting Tools: These references can also be filtered in your reporting tools, ensuring that test data is not inadvertently included in reports or dashboards intended for live data.

3. Pre-uploaded Test Claims for Scenarios

Before testing begins, it is important that you have a set of pre-uploaded test claims. These test claims should be designed to cover a range of scenarios that you may encounter during testing.

Support for Upload:

  • Our team is available to assist with the upload of these test claims, ensuring they are correctly set up and ready for use in the Production environment.

4. Other Advantages of Testing in Production

Testing in Production is not only beneficial because it uses the real data model, but it also provides a reliable environment that closely mimics live operations.

  • Real-time Feedback: The Production environment offers immediate feedback on how strategies and templates perform under real-world conditions.
  • Greater Confidence: Testing in the same environment that will be used in actual operations increases confidence in the reliability and effectiveness of the strategies and templates. Testing in Demo is never going to be a guarantee that your production set-up will work.
  • Easier Maintenance: It is not necessary to maintain synchronization of strategies and templates between different environments (e.g., Production and Demo). Each environment serves a different purpose, and trying to keep them in sync can lead to unnecessary complexity.
